We left PA and drove into New Jersey Harbor to our campground, Liberty Harbor RV Park. I use the term very loosely! It's a large parking lot with fifty parking spaces that have water and electric hookups. There is a small patch of grass for tents but I wouldn't stay there in a tent. There is a guard at the front gate 24/7 so that is nice. It is right in NJ harbor and you can see the Statue of Liberty from it. It's only 15 minutes from lower Manhattan so that is the only reason people stay there.
We headed into New York and went straight to the 9/11 Memorial. Huge!! Wow it's two very impressive waterfall/square pits with all the names of the victims of the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and Flight 77 engraved all around the outer edge. They are still working on the One World Tower building. The outside is mostly finished and it looks very impressive! You can see it from all over NY.
